The training
Four modules.One purpose.
In-person only. No exams. No clinicians. Just real people learning to be present for each other.
A Paper AED is a defibrillator you carry in your head. You cannot see it. You cannot hold it. But when someone's world goes dark, you can use it.
PART teaches you how.
SPOT THE DARK
See what others miss.
Crisis rarely looks like the movies. It looks like someone who is quieter than usual. Someone who laughs too hard. Someone who stops showing up. This module teaches you to read the room — to notice the signs that something is wrong before it becomes an emergency.
- Recognising verbal and behavioural warning signs
- Understanding the difference between a bad day and a crisis
- How to open a conversation without making it worse
HOLD THE TORCH
Rule 1: Keep your mouth shut.
The hardest thing to do in a crisis is nothing. We are wired to fix, to advise, to redirect. HOLD THE TORCH teaches you to resist that impulse — to hear what is actually being said, to sit in the discomfort, and to be present without an agenda.
- Active listening — what it actually means
- How to ask the question you are afraid to ask
- What to do when you do not know what to do
KEEP THE FLAME
Rule 0: Protect yourself first.
You cannot hold a torch for someone else if yours has gone out. KEEP THE FLAME is about sustainability — learning to support others without burning yourself down in the process. This is not a luxury. It is a prerequisite.
- Recognising compassion fatigue in yourself
- Setting limits without abandoning people
- Building a personal support structure
SHARE THE FLAME
Every person you train is a node in a network.
PART is designed to spread. SHARE THE FLAME teaches you how to bring this training to your community — your workplace, your school, your neighbourhood. You do not need to be an expert. You need to be willing.
- How to introduce PART to your community
- Facilitating peer conversations about mental health
- Building a culture where asking for help is normal
How it works
In-person. Always.
No online option
We do not offer virtual sessions. Crisis response is a human skill. It has to be practised with humans in the room.
No exams
There are no tests, no grades, no certificates to frame. You will leave more capable. That is the only measure that matters.
Groups and individuals
Sessions are available for workplaces, community organisations, schools, and individuals. We will work with you to find the right format.
